Half an hour later, the torch arrived in the town of Kuybyshev, originally known as Kainsk. Before the 1917 Bolshevik revolution, it was famous for its dairy products and butter. Such goods were even sold in Hamburg and London.

At noon on Sunday, the Olympic flame was greeted at the railway station in Barabinsk, a small town on the Om River. The town, which lies on the route of the Trans-Siberian Railway, was founded at the end of the 19th century.
