February 6, 2014 Seal pup to cast Olympic predictions A 3-year-old seal pup, Busya, hopes to gain spectators’ attention during the 2014 Winter Olympics, as he may successfully predict the future medal-winners at the Games. “He has already predicted a few football matches,” says the seal’s handler, Yury Maslikov, adding that “he was correct about 99 percent of the time.” Some animals are traditionally used to predict sporting events.

The president had a close encounter with one of the creatures - while the IOC officials kept a safe distance. Putin spearheaded a scheme to reintroduce leopards to the Caucasus Mountains and revive a population that died out decades ago.
